Potentially busy week ahead…

‘Fifteen jump meetings in the schedule for the week ahead with the highlight being the Ascot Long Walk meeting on Friday and Saturday. The outlook for the early part of the week is generally for decent jumping ground before most areas are set for rain midweek as temperatures increase.

We get underway at with an early start at Southwell to accommodate their extended eight race card which includes appreciable distance increases. Our other fixture on Monday is from Plumpton who host a fairly valuable Novices’ Chase. Both courses currently report Good to Soft ground. Over in Ireland there is an informative card at Naas. Two fixtures on Tuesday at Catterick and Wincanton, both of a modest standard.

Attractive day on Wednesday with good prize money on offer at Newbury and Ludlow. We also have Lingfield who raced last week in testing conditions and are expecting further rain. On Thursday there is a decent card at Exeter whilst Ffos Las will not want too much rain on ground that has already seen plenty.

Another early start as Uttoxeter get the Friday action going. An hour later Ascot commence their six race card which comes to a close with a Grade Two Novices’ Chase and a Listed bumper. Then onto Saturday as Ascot conclude their richest jumps fixture of the season. The centrepiece is the Grade One Long Walk Hurdle followed by two valuable Premier Handicaps. The support comes from Haydock who feature the Tommy Whittle and a Listed Novices’ Hurdle along with further good prize money at Hereford. The final meeting of the week before the Christmas break is from Fakenham on Sunday.
